**Description**



The Patient Access Supervisor directs and supervises the Admitting and Communication departmental operation and staff activities including registration of patients, operation of the switchboard and emergency paging systems and the physician answering service. Under the general supervision of the Director the Patient Access Supervisor monitors, supervises and evaluates the activities of departmental staff in the registering of inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients, assuring that complete, accurate information is obtained in a courteous and professional manner. Responsible for generating complete and accurate final patient bills for all insurers. Coordinates the electronic billing system and the cashier office in the hospital. Frequent contact with admitting, communication, patient accounts, other hospital departmental staff, and hospital patients is required. Occasional contact with medical staff is necessary.
