Mechanical Engineer, Fire Protection Systems

POSITION OVERVIEW

Working with internal and external stakeholders, this position provides engineering services backed by expertise in relevant Fire and Building Codes. JOB FUNCTIONS

Undertake design, design review, and manage projects including site reviews and assessing the fire protection systems in a building and apply Canadian provincial and national Building and Fire Codes, CAN/ULC, NFPA standards, and best practice guidelines related to Fire Protection Systems. Project manage system installations in close coordination with contractors and other cross‑functional teams. Attend construction and pre‑construction site meetings. Apply and provide interpretations of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and ULC/NFPA standards to internal and external client. Take leadership in resolving compliance matters and attending meetings with stakeholders and with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
