Mechanic

School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for a Continuing, Twelve-Month, Forty (40) hour per week Mechanic position on Salt Spring Island.

The pay rate for this position is $44.78 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and pension plans. The successful candidate will be a member of CUPE 788.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• BC or Interprovincial Trade Ticket in one or more of the following:
  • Auto Mechanics
  • Heavy‑Duty Mechanics
  • Commercial Transport
• Valid BC Class 2 driver’s license
• Valid ICBC‑certified air brake endorsement
• Certification as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector
• Three years’ experience as a journeyperson mechanic
• Working knowledge of safe loading/lifting techniques
• Documented evidence of exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as a member of a team
