Job Title: Asphalt Screed Operator
Location: York, PA
Screed Operator Responsibilities
+ Operate the screed on an asphalt paving machine to achieve the desired thickness and smoothness of asphalt surfaces.
+ Manipulate levers to control asphalt flow, screed angle, and depth for consistent mat thickness and smoothness to maintain a consistent and even surface.
+ Continuously observe material flow and adjust settings to achieve final surface quality according to project plans.
+ Work closely with the paver operator and other crew members to maintain production, quality standards and to ensure efficient and effective paving operations.
+ Perform pre-shift inspections, clean, and conduct basic maintenance inspections on the screed and paving machine.
+ Adjust screed settings and extensions to achieve desired width, depth, slope, and smooth finish, often using stakes and levels.
